I Miss Spring!!!!

What happen to the warm weather. I had 3 glorious days of warmth, capris, playing outside, even allergies!! Then just when I am lulled into a false sense of security that the stupid groundhog was finally wrong, snow, not a lot but still I was ready for spring. So since I can't stomp my foot on a blog I choose to rebel and pretend it's spring, or at least relive what beautiful weather was like.
Kanarra Falls 2008- Now this was fun. Kanarraville is this tiny little town (about 30 houses) about 20 miles south of Cedar and there is this great hike that follows the creek up to a slot canyon with a couple of cool waterfalls. See how warm it looks. We had to wear sunscreen, and pack water and snacks, we got totally wet in some places. At one point the kids decide to make us all laugh by re-enacting the scene from Jurassic Park, you know the one, where Dr. Grant grabs the fencing and screams and shakes like he's being electrocuted:
We have the funniest kids! I can't even remember Andrew fighting with anyone. The great outdoors seems to ease the kids tempers. Just one more reason to love springtime. When the kids start fighting you can just send them outside, which is where they really want to be anyway.
Look at how he is ready to hike, with his hat and water bottle strapped to his back, and he's not even hitting anyone! Miracles happen in warm weather. Of course, when I have had a series of hot, hot days near the end of the summer, and the kids have been out of school long enough to make me want to pull all of my hair out, then.. and only then, I will be begging for fall.

Kreative Kids are Kool!!
I love my kids. I can give them a few simple items and they leave me alone for at least 3 hours! What better to do on a saturday than create houses and hats out of crap! Off they went to their room to work on their creations. It was hours before they turned up with a "Parade of Homes". Literally, a parade down the stairs! Brooke was the grand master with a fancy shmancy baton. If ya can't tell that is a helicopter top on Anna's hat, thankfully she did not take flight!(She had no landing gear) Just another day in the Arnold home. It doesn't take much, a box, a bag, crayons, glue, and imagination. The very best part about their creative days is there isn't any fighting. These kids can fight about nothing ("She's looking at me!") and about real things ("She's looking at me again!") But then there are those magical moments when they are so nice it's almost spooky.I'll wait till room cleaning day to throw these creations out... in the middle of the night... when they can't cry about it... and they will wonder where it went... and finally blame it on the monster under the bed. He steals all their good junk!!

Bruno's Birthday Bash!!

We spent a fabulous Saturday in Vegas and it was so much warmer than Cedar. When we left in the morning there was about a foot of fresh snow from friday night. So even if the breeze was cool the 50's felt so nice. The kids had a blast visiting with their cousins. David's Family came down from Spring Creek(near Elko) and we had all our siblings together. It had been a while since the kids have all been together so they really wore themselves out. They hung out, played video games, did tricks on the skateboard and laughed...a lot!

As it turns out Bruno doesn't like strangers (i.e. Me) but he loves David. He went right to him and stole his hat. He also loves his daddy and if Xavier was in sight Bruno wanted him. They had the coolest (cutest) matching jerseys on.

The day was filled with Pin the tail on the donkey, pinatas and a funny magician who I swear could be Andy in another life. Andy may have to rethink his profession and become a magician. He was so funny and had cool tricks, (some obvious and others not so) and picked on Sean's balding head, took Xavier's money, and made fun of Jeremy calling him "bud light" all day.

We had a ton of fun and it was great to see everyone again. Who knows how long it will be before it will happen again. It seems time and life seem to slip by so fast and before I know it another year has come and gone.
